Official Filmography:

"Indeed, if there had been no Chris Foss, there may have been no Star Wars. If that sounds too bold a claim, try this: without Foss, a film like Star Wars, if it had been made, would have looked very different. The triangular ship Foss created for A. E. Uan Vost's Moonbeast in 1975 uncannily foreshadows the Imperial Star Destroyers, both in design and perhaps more importantly a sense of sheer scale, one on the order of cities rather than mere ships. This was just the first of his technological innovations. Foss, it has been noted, showed us spaceships too large for planetary horizons to hold. By 1977, the creatively convulsive year of Star wars, punk rock and the launch of 2000AD, Foss had already seduced a young tech-hungry generation that embraced science fiction as its cultural template and optimistically set its telescopic sights on the future. Other media were merely playing catch-up."

-Rian Hughes "Chris Foss:Industrial Revolutionary"

"Of all the Chris Foss paintings that inspired Guardians of the Galaxy, this may be the one that inspired us most.Yellow is an underused color in films, especially science-fiction and fantasy films. In Guardians, I used it as a signifier of change, rebirth, and redemption - the yellow prison uniforms, Drax drowning in the yellow spinal fluid, the yellow Groot spores, and the yellow interlocking Nova Corps net... I believe color is a part of what made Guardians successful. ..

Anyway, this painting, along with other Chris Foss works, was a part of my original presentation to Marvel when I pitched myself as director and I explained the visual direction I was going to take with the film. They were immediately on board, and we ended up hiring Chris Foss to help design some of the spaceships in the film. He was, of everyone, my biggest visual inspiration on Guardians."

-James Gunn ,Director of Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 (2017)

Glyn Dillon , chief concept artist in the costume dept on Star Wars: The Force Awakens & Rogue One said that when he came up with the Kylo Ren mask, he had thought back to what really blew him away as a kid. He remembered how artist Chris Foss would do this yellow and black striping in artwork for ''Dune''. He added it to a helmet , J.J. Abrams asked if it could be chrome and loved it
